Dunsford

Dunsford sits on the eastern edge of the National Park above the Teign valley, a village of white cob and thatch gathered around a church, and one of the prettiest approaches to Dartmoor from Exeter. It is a farming parish on the gentler side of the moor, where the high ground gives way to deep lanes and wooded river valleys.

The village is best known for what happens below it each spring. Dunsford Nature Reserve, along the Teign towards Steps Bridge, holds one of the finest displays of wild daffodils in the south west, and in March the riverside woods are full of them and of people who have come to see them. The rest of the year it is a quiet and beautiful stretch of river, with the walk up the Teign towards Fingle Bridge and Castle Drogo among the best in Devon.
