Western White Barrow

Western White Barrow is a Bronze Age round barrow, one of Dartmoor's many burial monuments from the second millennium BC. The barrow takes its name from the light-coloured stones that form its cairn, which stand out against the moorland. Like other barrows across Dartmoor, it represents a significant investment of labour and marks a place of ritual importance to prehistoric communities.
Today the site appears as a low mound on open moorland. It is a Scheduled Monument, protected for its archaeological interest. Walking the moor around this barrow, you are moving through a landscape dense with Bronze Age settlement and burial sites, a legacy that shapes how we read Dartmoor's ancient past.
