Two hut circles near Yellowmeade Farm

Two stone hut circles and a substantial length of walling survive on this exposed moorland site, likely dating to the Bronze Age or Iron Age. The circular foundations and associated field systems are typical of the prehistoric settlement patterns found across Dartmoor, evidence of communities who lived and worked on the high ground when the landscape was more extensively farmed.

Today the remains are modest but visible, scattered amongst the gorse and heather. This is a Scheduled Monument, protected for its archaeological significance. The site sits within the wider pattern of ancient settlement that defines Dartmoor's character, and offers walkers a tangible connection to thousands of years of human presence on the moor.
