Tom Greeves

Tom Greeves studied archaeology at Edinburgh and took a doctorate at Exeter in 1981 on the Devon tin industry, 1450 to 1750. He was Devon's first Sites and Monuments Officer and was archaeologist to Dartmoor National Park from 1979 to 1985.
He was chairman of the Dartmoor Society from 1998 to 2019 and chaired the Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group from 1991 to 2001. He was honorary editor of the Devonshire Association from 1995 to 2004 and its president in 2015 to 2016. He received the Dartmoor Society Award in 2020.
His books include Tin Mines and Miners of Dartmoor and, with Sue Andrew and Chris Chapman, The Three Hares.
He co-founded the Three Hares Project with the photographer Chris Chapman and Sue Andrew. The Dartmoor Society reported his retirement as chairman after 21 years: Tom Greeves steps down as chairman of the Dartmoor Society.
