Shilstone Rocks Riding Centre
Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Newton Abbot, Devon
Shilstone Rocks Riding Centre sits down a narrow lane a mile or so from Widecombe-in-the-Moor, alongside a stud that breeds Dartmoor ponies. It is a family-run, British Horse Society approved centre and has been running since the 1960s.
It offers riding lessons for all abilities, tailored hacks in small same-ability groups, and livery. Rides start from an hour and go up onto Hamel Down, Bonehill Rocks and Buckland Beacon. Riding boots and safety hats are provided for adults and children.
The horses range from sturdy Highland ponies to lighter breeds, so the centre takes complete beginners as readily as experienced riders.
