Round cairn near Yes Tor

This round cairn sits on the high ground northwest of Yes Tor summit, part of the dense scatter of Bronze Age monuments across central Dartmoor. Like many cairns on the moor, it likely served as a burial marker or ritual site, built by communities who lived and worked the uplands over three thousand years ago.

Today it appears as a low stony mound in the moorland, best found as part of a wider walk around Yes Tor. The cairn's survival reflects both the exposed, wind-swept nature of this landscape and the durability of stone. Walking here, you move through the same high moor that those Bronze Age people knew, with views across the moorland stretching far in all directions.
