One day courses run from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

The course is an introduction to blacksmithing, and covers some of the building block techniques of the craft using a traditional coal fire. These may include fire maintenance, hammer skills, drawing out, punching holes, splitting and twists.

The aim is to give students as much time as possible working on the anvil and then incorporate the skills learned into making a finished piece to take away. This can include fire pokers, toasting forks, hooks large and small snails, and letter openers. Your own ideas for projects can also be facilitated.

If you already have some blacksmithing experience, I can tailor the day to fit you.

All materials are supplied along with safety wear, gloves, apron and safety glasses. Please wear stout shoes and a shirt which will button at the wrist.
