Hut circles SE of Yar Tor

This scheduled monument comprises a cluster of hut circles positioned on open moorland southeast of Yar Tor. The rings of stone that formed the walls of these dwellings date to the Bronze Age, when this high Dartmoor landscape was actively settled and farmed. The circles are visible today as slight depressions and stone outlines, markers of a way of life sustained on the moor thousands of years ago.

The site lies within a broader prehistoric landscape scattered with similar settlements, cairns and field systems. Walking here offers a direct connection to Dartmoor's deep past, and the moorland setting itself, largely unchanged in character, helps convey the environment these people inhabited and shaped.
