Herne Hole Tor sits just beyond a wooden stile on land owned by Dartmoor Prison, accessible from the B3357. It's a small tor with two large granite outcrops and a cleft that reveals more rock below. A lone hawthorn tree shelters on the edge, and the views to the east and north are excellent, with Great Mis Tor and Haytor visible in the distance.
