Dartmoor was visited by notable British painters including J. M. W. Turner and Thomas Girtin, paving the way for national and local artists to respond to the moor. This survey brings together, for the first time, the names of those across a range of media who have been inspired by the landscape, with a short biographical study of each principal artist and examples of their work from private and public collections.
