Cist 430m ESE of Yealm Steps

This cist is a stone burial chamber dating to the Bronze Age, when communities on Dartmoor buried their dead in stone-lined graves, often covered by round barrows. The monument lies in open moorland southeast of Yealm Steps, in the Yealm valley area. Like many of Dartmoor's prehistoric monuments, it speaks to a landscape shaped and used by people over thousands of years.
