Cairn

This cairnfield on the western slope of White Hill is a scattered cluster of stone cairns dating from the Bronze Age, likely built between around 2000 and 1000 BC as burial monuments or ritual markers. These small stony mounds are part of the extensive archaeological heritage of central Dartmoor, where Bronze Age communities left their mark across the high moor through burial practices and ceremonial activity.

Today the cairns remain as low stone heaps visible among the moorland vegetation and granite outcrops. Walking here, you are treading a landscape shaped by people thousands of years ago. The site is a scheduled monument, protected for its archaeological importance and as a window into how Dartmoor's earliest documented inhabitants used and valued this high ground.
