Branscombe’s Loaf sits on Corn Ridge, named after the legend of Bishop Walter Branscombe who was offered bread and cheese by a stranger, only for his servant to dash it from his hands. The loaf and cheese supposedly landed as two outcrops, now known as Branscombe’s Loaf and Cheese. The story adds a touch of folklore to this quiet spot on the moor.
