The enclosed stone hut circles represent Bronze Age or later prehistoric settlement, while the round cairn may belong to the same era or earlier. Medieval tinworking earthworks overlay the older landscape, showing how later generations adapted the moor for metal extraction.

Today the site appears as a scatter of low stone ruins and earthworks across rough moorland, best visited with an understanding of what to look for. It lies in the remote western reaches of the moor, south of Nun's Cross, and rewards those who can read the landscape's layered history. The earthworks are fragile and protected.
