Stone alignment near Great Trowlesworthy Tor

This complex site gathers several periods of Dartmoor use into one landscape. At its core lies a prehistoric stone alignment and kerbed cairn, likely Bronze Age, with nearby traces of settlement from the same era. The stones and cairn anchor an ancient way of life on the high moor, practical and purposeful.

Later, probably in medieval times, the same area saw different activity. Four pillow mounds, a vermin trap and animal runs suggest use as hunting ground or managed moorland. These features tell of a moor shaped by human need across millennia, from ritual and settlement to sport and farming control.
