A Hundred Years on Dartmoor
1901
Subtitled "Historical Notices of the Forest and its Purlieus during the Nineteenth Century," this began as a newspaper series before being collected into book form. It proved popular enough to run through several editions in quick succession, and led directly to a follow-up series, "Echoes of an Ancient Forest." Note: the free scan linked below is the 1902 fifth edition (Western Morning News Co.) - the book was first published in 1901.
